Adaptive Community Approach Program (ACAP)
The Adaptive Community Approach Program (ACAP) has been providing skills-building, advocacy training, and life-enhancing experiences for adults with physical and cognitive disabilities since 1982. Through innovative daytime programming in the Waukesha region, ACAP members participate fully in community life through adaptations, advocacy, consumerism, and volunteering. Our boundary-pushing programs help individuals grow in skills for home and community independence. Led by trained staff, we provide a full range of services built around the goal of community inclusion. Our program hours are 9:30 am – 2:30 pm M-F.
ACAP has always had the highest standards for program offerings. We emphasize mission-alignment, creativity, and practical effectiveness. Our people are out in the community in small groups as often as possible. Members have a choice of dozens of program offerings per week in the categories of advocacy, the arts, education, sports & rec, and volunteering. In addition to these, we offer monthly special opportunities, ranging from movies, to events, to concerts, etc. Finally, we design each program to build individual capacities and skills. There is a tremendous amount of respect, care, and opportunity in our programs.
